We hired Sunset Design & Build for a full home remodel plus a 400 sqft addition, and I'd do it again tomorrow. Isaac and his crew were the best part of what could've been a miserable year.
What stood out was how much they actually cared. We'd text dumb questions at 8pm and still get a real answer. When we flipped the kitchen layout halfway through (sorry guys), they didn't make us feel bad about it. The 400 square foot addition ties into the existing house so cleanly you genuinely can't tell where the old stops and the new starts.
They showed up when they said they would. Site was clean at the end of every day, which sounds small until you've lived through a remodel. The subs they brought in were solid. Lucy in the office kept us looped in on scheduling and payments so nothing ever caught us off guard.
Construction stuff still came up, of course. A plumbing issue behind a wall, a backordered window. But every time, it was a conversation and a fix, not a fight over who was paying.
Isaac wasn't the cheapest of the three bids we got. He was the only one who walked us through the scope line by line so we actually understood what we were paying for. No surprise charges at the end, which I hear is rare.
If you're looking at a remodel or an addition in San Diego, these are the people.

I chose Sunset Design And Build as my contractor because Issac was very knowledgeable and I needed a contractor who would help me through the process from start to finish.

I had a leak and went through a mold remediation prior to Sunset and I just was so happy that the whole team was pleasant and caring. They also don't cut corners and try to get the job done quickly. The big thing I noticed is that besides assisting me, he also takes care of his people.

The proof is in the pictures...my bathroom is amazing. I joked that with that beautiful tile I could use it as a background for an online auction! Thank you Issac and team.

We recently had Sunset Design and Build do some renovation to our 30-year-old home, including re-flooring the first floor, installing heated flooring in the Family Room, and updating the upstairs bathroom with a new tub, shower, and tile. The project was completed professionally and we are very happy with the process and the results.
--Isaac Barak, the Point-of-Contact/Foreman, was consistently responsive and attentive, and was onsite checking-in with me for the majority of the project days. If he was not onsite, he always did a check-in via text. His regular presence, good humor, and willingness to quickly address our questions made the process a very pleasant experience.
--And some little "extras," i.e., some small repairs that were not part of the actual project, were greatly appreciated.
--One of the phrases I often heard from Isaac is, "...consider it done!"
--Aslan paid careful attention to detail and managed to save and reinstall our bathroom vanity, a concern of ours from the start.
--Osman assisted across various tasks, always positive and respectful. --Bego handled the bath and tile work effectively, giving new life to our old bathroom.
--Akram did a great job blending new paint with existing walls.
--Manny, who installed the floors, was always energetic with a smile and made sure to explain his plans and options throughout.
The Sunset Design and Build team was consistenty courteous, skilled, and easy to work with. The results were great and we appreciate their professionalism and communication. We would certainly recommend them for similar renovation projects and they will be the first ones we call for future projects!

It was finally time to tackle our guest bathroom remodel -- and believe me, it showed every bit of its 1988 origins! We reached out to several contractors for bids, and the results were all over the map. One quote was so high you'd think we were remodeling the entire house! Others were a little better, but still far beyond what we were willing to spend.
Then came Isaac from Sunset Design and Build. His price was right in the ballpark of what we had in mind, but what really stood out was his confidence and professionalism. From the first conversation, we could tell this was someone who truly knew his craft.

Isaac estimated the project would take about three and a half weeks. He recommended trusted retailers he'd worked with before -- every one of them spoke highly of him and went out of their way to help us choose the perfect materials.

Once work began, Isaac's crew impressed us from day one. They were punctual, respectful, and took great care of our home. You could tell they took real pride in their work. To our surprise, they wrapped up the project in just over two weeks -- and the finished bathroom looks absolutely stunning.

We couldn't be happier with the results. If you're looking for a contractor who's honest, skilled, and delivers exactly what he promises (and then some), we wholeheartedly recommend Isaac and the team at Sunset Design and Build!

I live in Colorado and needed a new kitchen for my rental in San Diego after a leak. The entire design process with Sunset Design & Build was remote, and honestly it couldn't have been easier. Being able to review everything online made addressing changes and surprises along the way stress-free.

Isaac was always super informative, quick to answer questions, and explained things in a way that gave me total confidence even though I wasn't on site. The remodel turned out better than expected, and my tenants are thrilled. If you're out of state, this is the team you can rely on.
